The backing melted n the dryer when I washed it and dried it at the lowest heat setting in my dryer. The on-line description said the backing was polyester. The materials tag said that layer was polypropylene. That's the same plastic milk jugs are made from. It's a terrible choice for bedding. As the mattress pad was made in China, I suspect there was an unauthorized substitution by the manufacturer.
The Customer Service person I spoke to was apologetic, and authorized a return at The Company Store's expense. I already have a refund.

If a large capacity front loading washer and dryer is used and the product is dried on low heat, while it may take a while for the pad to dry, it should not melt in the dryer. We are sorry you had this experience.

This is a great mattress pad. This is the second one I’ve purchased. I bought one quite a few years ago to upgrade an older mattress. I recently bought a new mattress, which is really wonderful, but decided I still needed this cushy mattress pad, so bought a new one to go with the new mattress. The old one has held up well and was transitioned to the guest bed. The mattress pad has just enough cush to make it comfy and give without being too thick. It also washes and dries well in my regular front loading washing machine, though it does say it should be washed in a commercial machine. Highly recommend!

Has nice deep corner pockets for a deep mattress. It’s a nice quality mattress cover, the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that I thought the pad portion was going to be a thicker foam.

A: Hi Irene. The Comfort Cushion Quilted Memory Foam Mattress Pad. Memory foam, 100% Polyurethane foam (no other additives). Polyurethane is the result of the chemical reaction between a polyol and a diisocyanate. Once the chemical reaction of its components has taken place, the result is a polyurethane foam that is completely inert and harmless to humans. Contrary to what some people claim, various studies certify that polyurethane does not pose a risk to the health of users. In fact, polyurethane is present in our lives in hundreds of forms, some directly in contact with skin or other fabrics: seats, shoes, coverings, bags, cushions, mattresses, children's toys, or even prostheses and other surgical materials.
