Not at all what I thought it would be. It is quilted. The printed floral motifs look cheap. Since it is final sale, it is headed to the guest room instead of my bedroom. A very expensive mistake.

Applique is: ""appliqué, sewing technique in which fabric patches are layered on a foundation fabric, then stitched in place by hand or machine with the raw edges turned under or covered with decorative stitching."" the floral bouquets are printed on the fabric, and not separate layers stitched onto the coverlet. It is overpriced for a printed fabric, though lovely in every other respect.
