We are sorry to hear that you feel the fabric isn't sateen, but more like a Company Cotton Percale fabric which is not as soft and smooth. The fabric of this collection is a 300-thread count combed cotton sateen which should give you a soft and smooth duvet cover. The fabric will soften up and relax with repeated use and laundering. I also am happy that it’s not heavy and doesn’t add a lot of weight with our down comforter inside, which keeps us from getting too warm at night. The fabric is soft and workmanship looks great. I’m very happy with my purchase.
