Kids’ bedding should be changed once a week. Pieces that don't touch children directly—such as comforters, duvet covers, quilts, blankets, and decorative pillows—can be washed less frequently.

The only crib bedding you need is a fitted sheet and, if you prefer, a mattress protector. An optional crib skirt can add an element of style. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, you should omit any loose bedding—no blankets, crib bumpers, pillows, or toys—until your child reaches one year old.
