Lack a little loft
While not as lofty or fluffy as i thought these would be, they’re what i needed as decorative pillows. They have weight and are a bit flat but appreciate that they’re RDS and comparable to other brands on sale.

The reason I got a down and feather throw pillow insert was to have a soft, cushy place to lay on or lean on while sitting on the couch. We bought two of these 20" x 20" inserts in May, and we placed them in some really soft decorative pillow covers. Well let me tell you, it is like trying to cuddle a small porcupine every time we try to relax. We have been getting poked in the arms by sharp quills constantly. We tried removing the covers and brushing off the pillows, but it is way too far gone for that. Thought it might just be initial shedding that would stop, but it's been four months now and feathers are migrating out daily. Now the nice soft covers are embedded all over with feather shafts, and these pillows cause more pain and annoyance than comfort. Low quality for the high price. Wish these came with down proof ticking covers sewn on them. Worthless otherwise. It's probably way too late to get our money back.

Good pillow inserts for throw people
I bought these pillows to fit some handmade covers we purchased in Belgium and they are perfect. The mix of down and feathers keeps a nice shape and are easy to fluff.

I have a pillow cover that is 17 x 17. Should I go with the 18" square? Would the 16" square end up looking floppy? Which fill is more forgiving of the insert being slightly larger -- down/feather or down alternative?

Do you guarantee that the sharp quills of the goose feathers will not poke through the cover? This seems to be a problem with every goose feather pillow (not yours) I’ve tried in the past. I’ve got the wounds to prove it!

Hi Suze85. The Company Essentials™ Feather and Down Square Pillow Insert. The cotton twill shell is stuffed with a premium blend of feathers and down for maximum fluffiness. Fill: 95% feathers/5% down.
Shell: 200-thread count cotton twill. We mix our feather fill with 5% down fill, this makes a good mix so is not all feathers. Make sure to fluff your pillow and also can be fluffed in your dryer on the air fluff setting, (no heat) This will redistribute the fill and helps prevent the fill from migrating to the edges and seams where it is easier to escape. While a 100% cotton with a 200-thread count should be sufficient to keep the fill intact, we recommend to keep a cover on your pillow in use. This way if any feathers do escape, they should stay inside the slipcover. We cannot speak to pillows made by another vendor, nor can we guarantee that absolutely no feathers will ever escape from this pillow. Thank you for your inquiry.

Hi Tari. Our Feather and Down Square Pillow Insert are filled with a sumptuous feather-and-down blend, providing just the right mix of softness and support. We would recommend, if your shams measure 16"" x 16"" that you use the same size pillow insert. If you go to a larger size pillow it would not fit well.
