The organic cotton sateen has microscopic pore testing performed by a third party lab. The average pore ( open space between interlocking yarns) size is <15 microns. The average bed bug is visible to the naked eye at 1/4" to 3/16". A quarter inch= 6350 microns. In contrast, dust mites are microscopic at an average of 250 microns. Therefore, the tightness of this special weave is an effective impediment from either escaping from the mattress or box spring it encases. Therefore, the claim of dust mite and bed bug resistant is as claims. Pet dander is particularly small, measuring about 5 to 10 microns. However, about a quarter of pet dander can measure smaller than 2.5 microns. This small size allows them to become and stay airborne easier.
