I was genuinely surprised by how thick and substantial this topper is. Even the box was massive! It expanded quickly, had no noticeable odor, and after about two weeks of sleeping on it, I'm very impressed. The best way I can describe the feel is like sleeping on a ton of smaller pillows. The quilting creates these huge, fluffy pockets that give the bed a cloud-like texture instead of feeling like you're lying on a flat slab of foam. My mattress was already soft, but it was soft in a very flat, uninteresting way. This doesn't really change the underlying mattress so much as completely change the texture of the sleeping surface, which is exactly what I wanted. The pillowing is substantial enough that you can actually sink slightly between the rows of quilting. Some people might consider that lumpy, and the large pockets do create noticeable channels between them. Personally, I love it. I think that's also somewhat unavoidable if you want a topper with this much loft and pillowing. So far, I haven't noticed much compression, and it fluffs back up very easily. I haven't had any issues with it sleeping too hot, either. In fact, I appreciate the extra warmth since I use a linen blanket. It also stays in place surprisingly well, although I was a little surprised that such a substantial topper doesn't have straps to secure it to the mattress. If you're looking for a perfectly flat, uniform sleeping surface, this probably isn't the topper for you. But if you want something extremely thick, fluffy, and cloud-like with the feeling of sleeping on lots of little pillows, it's fantastic. Read Less
