Allergy sufferers may prefer a down alternative comforter. Every down-free duvet, down alternative blanket and down alternative comforter we make is backed by our commitment to the highest levels of quality and comfort. PrimaLoft® is an ultra-fine polyester microfiber that mimics goose down’s lofting and insulating qualities. TCS® Down Free™ is also made from polyfill and offers lightweight warmth. Both keep the warmth in, rest lightly on the body, and are 100% allergen-free.

Allergic to Down?

For generations, down clusters have been prized for their natural insulating quality, making them perfect for comforters, pillows and outerwear. They create a layer of warmth that’s enhanced by your body’s own heat.

What about down and allergies? Scientists believe it’s the dust on improperly cleaned down — not the down itself — that causes allergies. At The Company Store, all of the down we use is washed up to 10 times with phosphate-free soap in state-of-the-art equipment, thoroughly sterilizing it and removing potential allergens.

Why choose genuine down or a down alternative? The fact is, the choice is mainly about your personal comfort level — some people prefer the “solid” feeling of down. Others prefer a more lightweight “cloud” experience. Allergy sufferers may choose to remove any possibility of allergens, no matter what.

Our Down-Free Comforters

Two of our best-sellers are available in down-alternative options. The La Crosse® PrimaLoft® Deluxe Comforter is made with PrimaLoft’s patented microfiber, known for its warmth, softness and durability. Those living in warmer parts of the world may also opt for our own St. Tropez® Lightweight Down-Free Comforter.

Looking for luxury options? You won’t be disappointed. The Legends® Geneva PrimaLoft® Deluxe comforter is generously filled with allergy-free microfiber, and finished with a silky 400 thread count sateen cover. Another premium option is the PrimaLoft Platinum® comforter, sewn with an antimicrobial, 300 thread count cotton shell.

Wool has been used for generations as a warm topper — but most people aren't aware that it’s naturally hypoallergenic, too. Our All-Season Wool Comforter is made with pure virgin sheep’s wool, which repels dust mites and is resistant to mold, mildew and bacterial build up.
