Whether you want restful sleep or to lounge in bed with a good book, this guide will help you identify the best pillow for your needs. When choosing your perfect pillow there a few things to consider—what’s your favorite sleeping position, how do you like your pillow to feel, what type of mattress do you have, are you a warm or cold sleeper, do you have allergies? Discover the correct pillow density, fill type, and size, then learn how to properly care for and protect your investment. Let’s get started!
What’s your go-to sleeping position? It will determine the best pillow density for you. Whether you sleep on your stomach (like a little h), back, side, or in a combination of positions throughout the night the right pillow density will provide optimum comfort.
Stomach sleepers do best with a soft, thinner pillow that keeps your spine as straight as possible and cushions the head and neck at comfortable angles.
If you sleep on your back, a medium-density pillow provides just enough support for your head and neck, while cradling the natural curvature of the upper spine.
Side sleepers do best with a firm, extra firm, or gusseted pillow that contours and cradles the head, neck, and shoulders, providing an even sleeping surface to help keep the body in a horizontal line.
We have multiple styles and shapes, with the right mix of support and softness, to complement your preferred sleeping position.
How do you like your pillow to feel—soft and squishy, firm but with some give? When it comes to pillow fill there are a lot of options to choose from—no one is best, rather they all have pros and cons depending on your needs and personal preferences. From down and feathers to down alternative fill and memory foam, we have a wide assortment of fills in all shapes and sizes.
One of the most luxurious pillow fills is down. Made from the fluffy undercoat beneath the feathers of geese and ducks, down is breathable and conforms to your head and neck for optimum support. More durable than synthetic fills, the down in our products goes through a rigorous cleaning process to ensure that it’s hypoallergenic. A down pillow is a worthwhile investment and with proper care a down pillow from The Company Store can last for years.
Down & feather mixes tend to be more affordable than all-down pillows. In addition, feathers provide more firmness and support. The more down in the mix, the loftier the pillow.
Down alternative fill is made of synthetic fibers that mimic the luxurious loft of down. For those with sensitivities to down or who simply prefer a down-free option, down alternative pillows are an excellent choice. We offer three types of down alternative fills at The Company Store: PrimaLoft®, LoftAIRE and TCS Down-Free™.
Memory foam is a dense, sponge-like material, which contours to your head and neck, providing ergonomic support for a better night's rest. It's best for sleepers who prefer a firmer pillow.
In our world, there’s no such thing as “too many” pillows, however the size of your bed can help you determine the ideal size and number of pillows you need for both comfort and style. For example, when it comes to bed pillows, you’d typically use one standard size for a twin bed, two queen size for a queen bed, and two king size for a king bed. However, when it comes to expressing your personal style, there are no rules—you can have as many pillows as you like (no matter what anyone says). We have the perfect selection of pillows to keep you sleeping in comfort and style.
Our bed pillows are offered in two fill options: feather and down and down-alternative. And in four density levels—soft, medium, firm, and extra firm for your sleeping pleasure.
For just the right mix of softness and support, try our specialty and support pillows. We have a variety of shapes and styles to best suit your preferred sleeping position. In addition, we have specialty pillow covers to match each of our support and specialty pillows so you can protect your pillow.
As we've mentioned, there's no such thing as too many pillows! Our decorative pillow inserts are offered in 95% feather and 5% down and down alternative options and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Plus, don't forget to pair our pillow inserts with our fun and fashionable pillow covers to express your personal style on your bed, your couch or even your favorite chair.
Best practice is to always follow the care instructions that came with your pillow, but below are tips for basic pillow care. Following your pillow’s care guidelines ensures it maintains its supportive and comforting qualities throughout the years. Best practice is to ALWAYS follow the instructions that came with your pillow when purchased. For detailed care instructions check the label on your pillow or visit our individual product pages.
Many pillows are machine washable and can be placed in the dryer. If your pillow label indicates it can be machine washed and dried, wool dryer balls are a great way to dry it faster and maintain the fluffiness of the pillow.
Use a pillow protector to extend the life of your pillow. It will provide an extra layer of protection against dust mites, moisture, stains, and bed bugs. We have a wide selection of pillow covers, including hard-to-find specialty sizes.
Just like bed sheets and comforters, pillows can be stored in a linen closet with sufficient airflow—a cool closet with shelves would be ideal. This will prevent musty smells from developing. Before you store away your pillow make sure it’s clean and completely dry. Storing a pillow that is damp can ruin it with mold and mildew growth.
No. We do not use flame-retardant chemical treatments on our pillows.
All of our down products are filled with down that has been certified under the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). RDS was established by Textile Exchange to promote traceability within the down industry. With independent supply chain certification by the third-party auditing company, Control Union, each phase of down sourcing is monitored so you can be confident that the down inside is the most responsibly sourced down in the market.
When you see “STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Certified” you know the source materials used have been tested and verified by an independent lab against a list of more than 350 harmful substances enabling you to make responsible decisions to keep you and your family safe.

The fill amount varies based on the pillow’s density and size. Given our wide selection of sumptuous pillows, it’s best to refer to the specific product information page for more details.
Best practice is to wash your pillow every three to six months, depending on how often you wash your pillow protector, pillowcase, and use your pillow.
A pillow that provides optimum comfort is an investment—let’s make sure it stands the test of time! There are three ways you can care for your pillows: machine wash, dry clean, or spot clean and never use bleach. But remember always to follow the individual pillow care instructions because not all pillows are the same.
Your pillow should give you optimum comfort every day and night. If your pillow no longer holds its shape and you have cared for it with regular cleanings, it may be time to replace your pillow.
Yes, some of our pillow have hypoallergenic fills. If you suffer from allergies, you’ll want to use a pillow protector too. It will protect your pillow from dust mites to ensure a sniffle-free night's sleep.

I ordered the extra firm option and am very happy with it. I am pretty picky with pillows and often find myself flipping them over throughout the night to get the right support under my neck. This one seems to be a lot better than most. It was lighter than I expected. A really great attribute of this pillow is the seams and fabric is thick and high quality so the down feathers don't start poking through. It feels like an upscale hotel pillow for sure!

I bought these pillows for my family. Pretty soon everyone was "borrowing" them from each other! They are very popular because they are so comfortable. The firm is supportive. Soft holds its shape, but is squishable. Medium is definitely the midpoint between the two. Soft is most popular at our house.

Using this as regular pillow for sleeping. It's certainly the best I've ever touched. Excellent firmness (I got the firmest one). Your head does not sink too far down in at all. Does not get too hot. No smell, no noise. Once in a while in life you encounter something that cannot be improved upon.
I've tried SO many pillows over the years, never found one that really worked for me. Decided to take a chance w/ this pillow, and just in case I ordered a different one at the same time, hoping that one of the two would be at least sorta comfortable. I used the "alternate" first, and wasn't real happy w/ it, so w/ some trepidation I put the special zipper cover on this one and tucked it into my pillow case. Read more
