Bedtime routine is so important for our family. Since we have been blessed with wonderful children that love waking up several times at night, we make sure to make bedtime a very special and relaxing time for them (it isn’t necessarily for us, parents :) ). Hazel and Zoey bathe every single night, and oh boy do they get a full spa treatment: nice warm hammock bath, with lavender essential oils diluted in the water, a gentle massage on their shoulders and feet, and some lullabies sang by me. Once they’re done with their baths, Dad makes sure to have our bedroom ready with the humidifier refilled, white noise machine on, lights out and Zoey’s warm bottle ready. Although I myself get a shower every couple of days and rarely have time for a pampering session, I really enjoy making bedtime special for my kids.
Not every day is tear-free, but everyday we are blessed with a beautiful bonding experience. Zoey twirls my hair, and Hazel nurses while stroking my cheeks. This is such a special and unforgettable season in my life as a mother that I want to soak up every second of it, even though most nights I end up soaking wet and exhausted, but utterly happy.
