  • Q:

How important is it to use the straps? We have an antique bed that is between a queen and king. The queen will fall a little short on width and a king will be too big. If we use the queen, do straps have to go around the mattress or do you think it would stay in place without them?

      A:

Hi Kate- With the Imperial Wool mattress pad we would recommend to use the straps. With out them the item will move around on the bed under your sheet. The straps are elastic and do have a good stretch to them. We would recommend to go with the queen size. We do have a 90 day return policy if the item does not work out for you. Thank you.

  • Q:

How MUCH will it shrink when washed? Want to make sure it still covers the mattress of its stated size. Or do you need to size up to compensate for shrinkage? Also, does it mat or change texture when washed?

      A:

Hi Joyce - The wool mattress pad does not change when washed and the shrinkage is minimal. I would buy the size of your bed and do not go a size up. Thank you.

  • Q:

Do you put this pad directly on the mattress and then cover with a mattress pad or does the mattress pad go first with the wool topper on top of that?

      A:

Hello - We would recommend putting the Imperial Wool Mattress Pad over the top of a mattress or featherbed. If you are to use another mattress pad with our Imperial Wool Mattress Pad, we would suggest putting the wool pad on top so you can benefit from the warmth and the feel of the wool. Thank you.
